Exhibition "Ata kesbi ogly halal: ataly gyz" Dedicated to the Creative Work of Kakamyrat and Altynjemal Baylyyev
The Museum
of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan is a cultural center that embodies the rich
history of our people and precious museum artifacts. Here, great opportunities
are created to preserve, display, and promote unique works of applied art
alongside fine arts. A clear example of this is the organization of a creative
exhibition dedicated to Kakamyrat Baylyyev, one of the founders of Turkmen
tapestry art. The organized exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the master
Kakamyrat Baylyyev's art, revealing the uniqueness of his talent, artistic
characteristics, and creative inclinations. The imagery in his tapestries
originates from the nature, history, and mythology of his native land. They
help the viewer immerse deeply into the master's world of thoughts, emotions,
and inspirations, drawing closer to his unique perspective. Kakamyrat Baylyyev’s work is inextricably linked with the centuries-old
traditions of Turkmen applied art—carpet weaving and felt making. This
connection is not merely a repetition of artistic traditions, but a harmony of
rhythm, colors, and tonal balance found in Turkmen carpets and felts. As an
extraordinary colorist, the artist assigned great importance to color. In
tapestries such as "The Potter" (1977), "The Shepherd’s
Melody" (1980), and "Motherhood" (1978), he reveals the essence
of his works through subtle nuances of color. The master conducted bold
experiments to adapt tapestries to interior spaces and give them a sense of
depth and dimension. He combined various technical methods and materials,
making use of both wool and synthetic yarns. The fringes on his tapestries
served not merely as decoration, but as an essential medium carrying deep
artistic meaning. Throughout his creative journey, he addressed various themes,
including history, motherhood, nature, and philosophy. Every tapestry he
created was woven from a profound love for life and pure artistic inspiration. Kakamyrat Baylyyev passed down his artistic craft and rare talent for
envisioning artistic images as a harmonious whole to his daughter, Altynjemal.
Altynjemal graduated from the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan. As an art
historian, she worked for many years as the Deputy Director of Scientific Work
at the museum and as a Department Head at the Academy of Arts, authoring
numerous publications. In her works, Altynjemal Baylyyeva has demonstrated the
development of her own independent style by taking a philosophical approach to
themes such as family traditions and fundamental life values. This exhibition presents a unique and warm combination of the creative
works of the master Kakamyrat Baylyyev and his talented daughter, Altynjemal
Baylyyeva. Their destinies, much like the threads of a tapestry, are
intertwined with an endless love for art and tapestry weaving. On behalf of the
leadership and staff of the museum, we wish the artist’s student and successor,
Altynjemal Baylyyeva, continued creative success.
